Gracious Word: Catharsis

3/27/2014

catharsis
Word every Gracious Individual should know: Catharsis

Definition:
Catharsis (pronounced kuh-thahr-seez); Greek; noun
1. The purging of the emotions or relieving of emotional tensions, especially through certain kinds of art.

Why I love this word:
It's never good to keep things bottled up. All the painful thoughts stay inside, ready to explode at the wrong moment at any given time. Catharsis is the act of relieving all that emotional tension you have within and being able to express yourself; whichever way that may be.
