Definition: Deferential; (Pronounced: defəˈrenCHəl); English; adjective
1. Showing respect for another’s authority.
Why I love this word:
When a young individual shows respect and obedience to an elder, they’re being deferential to the their wisdom and experience. To be obedient, courteous, dutiful and above all gracious, are all ways of being deferential.
