Definition: Doyenne; (pronounced doy-enne) French; noun
1. A woman who is the most respected or prominent person in a particular field.
Why I love this word:
When you have worked hard and succeeded at making a name for yourself in any field you wish to pursue is a tremendous achievement. But to have the respect of those who work with you whether they are above or below you is a true achievement of a gracious individual.
One woman I am greatly looking up to lately is Sarah Dubbeldam. She is the curator and mind behind Darling Magazine. I respect her for wanting to fill a void in the world by providing an honest, modest, and chivalrous publication to look up to as young women. A guidebook for the art of being a woman. I admire her patience, her pure heart, her undying passion and of course, her willingness and strong efforts to make the world a much better place.
