Gracious Word: Echelon

1/5/2014

Echelon
Word every Gracious Individual should know: Echelon

Definition: Echelon; (Pronounced: esh-uh-lon) French; noun
1. A level of worthiness, achievement, or reputation.

Why I love this word:
This word has to do with ranking, a level of command or authority. I think it's beautiful. You work hard to achieve greatness. I have learned, in order to be successful you must be selfish, or else you will never achieve what you want. However, once you have achieved what you set out to accomplish, then you have to learn to be unselfish. Stay reachable, humble and don't isolate yourself. You set such high standards for yourself because you are in this constant competition. You have to get up every morning to live up to that. But remember, the only person you should try to be better than, is the person you were yesterday.
