Definition: Kairos; (Pronounced: keer-OSS); Greek; noun
1. A perfect, delicate, crucial moment.
Why I love this word:
Here's to the fleeting rightness of time and a place that creates an opportune atmosphere for action, words or movement. I just think this word is so beautiful. It reminds me of my grandmother. She is the most graceful woman I know and she has this elegance about her that I only learn and realize more of as I continue to grow and experience certain difficulties in life. She has taught me so much of what it means to be a woman. After calling her this evening, she gave me some pieces of advice that I'd like to share:
"Know yourself well enough that when you receive a compliment, you accept it with grace, not surprise. Enjoy the miraculous moments you are living but be smart about your decisions. Always be conscience and aware of everything around you and don't waste your time making silly mistakes. Know you're living a blessed life, but never boast about that to anyone. Let others compliment you, don't ever compliment yourself." In this moment of speaking to my grandmother, I began to really feel how grateful I am to have her in my life, and I honestly wish she could stay in my life forever. I almost want to get married sooner so she can still be here to see me on that day, in that moment of pure happiness. I know she will; she's going to be there for me. In the meantime, I plan on spending and enjoying every single possible opportune moment with my elders. For they know far more than I can imagine, for they have lived a lifetime I have yet to live up to.
