Gracious Word: Lethologica

5/30/2014

Lethologica
Word every Gracious Individual should know: Lethologica

Definition: Lethologica (pronounced: leth-O-‘loj-i-ka); English; noun
1. When you think of something but the word for it escapes you.

Why I love this word:
It's at the tip of your tongue. It has just crossed your mind. But the word fails to come out of your mouth to describe it to someone else. If the inability to recall words, phrases, or names is a temporary but debilitating disorder, it is known as lethologica. You then obsess over this thought until you remember what you were supposed to say. This is a good word to know for the next time you completely forgot the words you have stored in your mental vocabulary. You have this noun to blame it on.
