Word every Gracious Individual should know: Mizpah
Definition: Mizpah; Hebrew; noun
1. The deep emotional bond between people, especially those separated by distance or death
Why I love this word:
More complex than love, mizpah is the connection tying two people together no matter how near or far they are. It is the unbreakable bond two people share that is uniquely their own, a bond that cannot be replicated. It is created from all the memories and emotions two people share together and stays with them even when they are a part. It is a connection of two souls that cannot be severed even by death, a connection that lasts forever.
Mizpah is what creates the feeling that a part of us is missing when the other is not there. It is what keeps us connected to those we have lost and to those we are apart from. It is something to cherish and keep in our hearts to remind us that even when we feel that we are all alone, we are always connected to those we love carrying them with us in our hearts.
