Gracious Word: Notarize

1/20/2014

Notarize
Word every Gracious Individual should know: Notarize

Definition: Notarize;(Pronounced: noh-tuh-rahyz) verb (used with an object)
1. to certify (a document, contract, etc.) or cause to become certified through a notary public.

Why I love this word:
This word defines the act of officially certifying a legal document by a notary public. The purpose of having a legal document notarized is to ensure the authenticity of the signatures that appear on the document. Once notarized, a document will have much more legal credibility and will stand up better in court if it is ever challenged.
