Gracious Word: Sphallolalia

3/17/2014

Sphallolalia
Word every Gracious Individual should know: Sphallolalia

Definition:
Sphallolalia (pronounced (sfa-lO-‘la-lE-a); Greek; noun
1. Flirtatious talk that leads nowhere

Why I love this word:
Experiencing this many times in my life whether I actually wanted the flirtatious conversation to lead somewhere or whether we both knew there was no future but it was still fun to converse. Sphallolalia describes the moment you are talking to someone and obvious flirting is being exchanged between both parties but it doesn't lead anywhere, whether it's just for one night or a lifelong relationship.
