Word every Gracious Individual should know: Sturmfrei
Definition: Sturmfrei (pronounced: SHTOORM-fry); German; adj
1. lit. 'stormfree'; the freedom of not being watched by a parent or superior; being alone at a place and having the ability to do what you want.
Why I love this word:
It's that classic feeling we all have gone through (or will soon go through.) You're finally freed from your parents' firm grip. You can make decisions on your own and live life under your own rules. All is well. You have no one to blame, no one else to count on, no one else to stop you from doing what you need to do. You're here and you're your new best friend. It's both amazing and tragic in it's own rights.
I moved out from my parents' house when I was 18 for college. After graduating I did come back home, but now being a newly admitted student to my second college for my second degree, I move out in two months. And I'm pretty excite for my freedom again.
