Definition: Apropos; (Pronounced: aprəˈpō) French; preposition
1. With reference to; concerning.
Why I love this word:
The word apropos comes from the French phrase à propos de, meaning 'with respect to'. In this sense, and in English, apropos is used as a preposition meaning 'with regard to'. It can also be an adjective for pertinent or to the point and it can also be used as an adverb that is used to state a speaker's belief that someone's comments or acts are unrelated to any previous discussion. Aren't words fun? This one means three different things when used three different ways!
