Definition: Avarice; (Pronounced: avəris); Latin; noun
1. Extreme greed for wealth or material gain.
Why I love this word:
Well I don't exactly love this word, but it's good to know. A gracious individual should never be in pursuit for solely the materialistic gain of a lifestyle. One who works for the pursuit of improving society and the world around them usually comes out not only as a better person, but the more successful one. Because if you follow what is true to your heart and only work for what will bring you fulfillment besides money or fame, those things will then follow after you as a result for pursuing your dream. Rather than only pursuing money and fame, because all you will be left with and at the end of the day will be an unfulfilled life.
Creating a life that reflects your values and satisfies your soul is a rare achievement. In a culture that relentlessly promotes avarice and excess as the good life, a person happy doing his own work is usually considered an eccentric, if not a subversive.
