The reason we go to college, or write down our goals and work incredibly hard to achieve them is for one result: to be successful. There are many different formulas to success, you can read them all over the internet and see which ones work best for you and compile your own combination. How you get ahead in life is solely up to you. Yes it is an amalgamation of luck, hard work, and persistence and how you choose your path of success is your responsibility. Here are some ways to help you with the little snags you may come across during your journey on your way up to greatness.
Pay Little Attention to Feelings
Your feelings change throughout the day and they are unreliable. Most of the time these 'feelings' rule your life and interfere with your goals. Don't make decisions when you're angry and don't make promises when you're happy. You’ll regret the decisions later, finding them to be too vacuous and mad. And you’ll regret the promises, finding that you promised more than you could keep.
Don't Worry
If you focus on your worries, they tend to take up too much space in your mind where goodness and positive thoughts should be filled. Focus on the negatives, and you will find yourself only living out the negatives. Focus on the positives and only good things will come to you.
Erase the Internal Commentary
For many of us, we are our own worst critics. Stop telling yourself that things will fall apart, or your efforts won't be good enough, or you won't succeed or be popular. Instead, keep telling yourself that you will make it and get on with your day believe so.
Be More Self-Believing
You will learn that your biggest cheerleader will be yourself. You are your biggest fan in life! Be affirming, kind and take note of your progress, perseverance, attitude and inner strength. You are the only one who can believe in yourself and coach yourself towards success.
Don't Feel Guilty
Accept that you are not perfect in this world, you may be pretty close, but there will be times when you make mistakes. Feeling guilty about them changes nothing. Instead, evaluate what you did wrong and truly understand the mistake you made and what caused you to make it. Overanalyzing will help you in this situation because if you know what you did wrong, you are less likely to repeat it again because the second time will be an active choice.
Overcome the Set Backs
Plans are not set in stone, as you continue to live your life, plans will always need adjusting whether your views changed or if things went wrong. It doesn't mean that things are over, it just means that you need to adapt to the changes, whether they come from yourself or the outside world.
Worry Less of What Others Think
At the end of the day, it doesn't matter what they think. You are the decider of your own goals and choices--you are not accountable to them. And don't ever let anyone make you feel that you don't deserve the good things that happen to your life.
